Our Profile

Malankara Plantations Ltd, formerly known as Malankara Rubber and Produce Company Limited, is the first Indian-owned rubber plantation company under corporate management. Established in 1910, the company owns rubber plantations and a factory in Thodupuzha covering 1,712 acres, along with tea estates and a factory in Elappara spanning 1,070 acres.

Through its wholly owned subsidiaries, Malankara Wood Ltd and Malankara Enterprises Ltd, the company continues to diversify and strengthen its legacy. With over a century of excellence, Malankara Plantations has become a symbol of quality, innovation, and sustainable plantation management.

Our Legacy

1910 - Founded

Malankara Plantations was founded by Mr. P. John, becoming the first Indian-owned public limited rubber plantation company.

1950s - Expansion

Our estates expanded across Munnar and Idukki, adding more tea and rubber plantations to our heritage.

2000s - Modernization

Introduced sustainable and eco-friendly cultivation methods to preserve nature and ensure high quality yields.

Today

Continuing a legacy of over 115 years, Malankara Plantations blends tradition with innovation in tea, rubber, and beyond.

Our Leadership

Late Mr. P. John

Promoter & M.D (1910 - 1927)

Founder of Malankara Plantations Ltd., he set the foundation for India’s first Indian-owned Rubber Plantation Company.

Late Mr. P. Kurian John

M.D (1927 - 1953)

Expanded the company with progressive leadership and vision, ensuring steady growth during his tenure.

Late Mr. K.C. Thomas

M.D (1954 - 1991)

Guided the company for decades, ensuring financial stability and declaring multiple bonus issues for shareholders.
